Basic Introduction:

India has been the land of the seekers and we have never been the land of believers. From Lord Rama to Lord Krishna, everyone was a seeker and in the pursuit of universal truth that could give real satisfaction (despite knowing all that was there to be known). Naturally, the mystic and spiritual traditions of India is ages-long and there is no technique to specify the exact timeline. However, without getting further deeper into the abyss that Indian thought is, let’s focus on the present. In the modern world, Swami Vivekanda led us on the world forums and brought to the world a treasure of ancient wisdom that India traditionally harboured. His talks on religion and logical arguments that he gave to support his thoughts, paved the way for many more to join his path. In the contemporary age, many spiritual leaders are carrying the spiritual heritage of India forward. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is a well-known name among them who has established a certain authority over the voice of spirituality and mysticism. He is also a world-famous author who has written more than 15 well-recognised books on various spiritual and philosophical issues. He has millions of followers around the globe and people love him unconditionally. People love him for his style of spirituality that is not dogmatic or systematic but rather energetic and eccentric. I have never seen any organisation like Isha Foundation where more than millions are contributing just voluntarily. Today, I will discuss Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, his life, work and books. And I am marking him as an author for our platform, The Indian Authors.

Early Life:

Jaggi Vasudev was born on 3rd September 1957 in Mysore, Karnataka. His father was working for Indian Railways and that’s why his family was moving from places to places frequently. He has done his schooling in Mysore. He graduated from Mysore University with a bachelor degree in English literature. Somehow and for some reasons, he refused to further continue his studies and moved to different places in the pursuit of mystical experiences. He has covered almost all parts of India on his motorcycle and that he called the best experience to see India. He liked this worldview on the wheels and eventually became a Yogi. He entered into the uncertain world of spirituality and started to teach yoga and deliver talks on spirituality and how to experience it.

His Writings:

Sadhguru has shown his extraordinary talent as an author as well. His books are regular best sellers. His books are primarily focused on the issues of spiritualism, inspiration, mysticism and abstract. A perfect blend of spiritualism and logical arguments can be found in most of his books. Neither is he like an ordinary author who writes different kinds of fiction and non-fiction and nor like any other spiritual leader who flies on the wings of fancies without grounding his ideas on the arguments of logic and reason.

His work ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s guide to joy’ was named the New York Times bestseller. In that book, he has discussed health, religion, spirituality and faith. It’s a yogi’s guide to live life happily and peacefully. The works of Sadhguru are decorated with wonderful philosophical and logical ideas that work as an eye-opener for many readers. The best of Sadhguru’s writing is not like any other intellectual guru or mystic. He is not interested in using daunting language and rather believes in writing in plain English which everyone can understand in totality. This is, to be honest, humble of him! He has written many other books and the notable ones are The Adiyogi, a 2017 publication, in which he discusses the importance of Shiva in the system of Yoga. He tells the readers that Shiva is the origin of Yoga and he is himself a Yogi of the highest possible order. Likewise, in his recent publication, Death, Sadhguru talks about death as an experience which is inevitable and one should not fear it. Mystic’s Musings is a compilation of various talks, discourses and lectures and interactions that Sadhguru held over time. It was published in 2003. There are other books by him mentioned in the Book’s section.

The works by him are full of witty and intellectual ideas in the raw format. His notion to look at normal things is beyond the vision of ordinary people. His scientific explanations of worldly problems are gaining world wider acceptance. From his writings, he has changed the discourse of intellectually-charged philosophical debates and presented a new scenario where he shows philosophy is not only for the old-timers and ancient explanations but it has the relevance in the modern times as well. The establishment of compassion, gratitude and universal ideas can be found in his works.

His recent published book ‘Death; An inside story: A book for all those who shall die’ has gained tremendous popularity across the globe. The book has created a solid atmosphere among the readers to know the ultimate reality that is called ‘Death’. Why should we escape it when it is going to happen sooner or later? With his tremendous narrative skill, Sahdguru has the prowess of swaying the minds of his readers and he can keep them enchanted in his text. His powerful and authoritative writing is fully supported by the simple use of language and it, in turn, boosts the confidence of the readers as well. The readers of Sadhguru’s books are always in a thought that they are gaining whatever is written by the author; and this state, to be honest, is something that every author dreams of achieving.

That’s the greatest award anyone can achieve in his life. His books have gained immense popularity among the book critics as well and many leading Indian book review sites have praised his writings from time to time.

Conclusion:

Sadhguru is a world-famous personality and there is no second opinion on this. Though we are here to judge his writings but, to be honest, that is beyond anyone’s wit! Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is an author who has not gained his muse by reading the works of others but by living the life of himself and realising so many perspectives of it… Sadhguru’s joyous ideas are charming and his realistic vision is frightening if you are low on the heart. He sees things as we cannot see but certainly learn by his works.
